This static model calculates the normal depth in an open channel assuming uniform flow conditions. The Manning's equation is used to calculate depth given the flow rate and assumed parameters of the uniform cross section of the channel. This model allows you to select from a set of 4 basic cross section shapes and also the units (SI vs. English) to work in. The binary search method is used to solve for the depth, which can be seen by going into the model and viewing the Script element called "y".
