Simulating an ATM Queue using Resources

|

Simple Example of the Use of Resources in a Model

Description

This is a simulation for an ATM machine installed at an event location, where there are frequent customer visits for cash withdrawals. The ATM can process one person at a time (maximum number of signals simultaneously processed) and it operates only when there is enough cash available in ATM machine (defined as a resource).

An Event Delay element and the Resource functionality included in GoldSim (see Model | Resources for the "Cash_in_ATM" resource definition) are used to represent the ATM machine in this simulation. The simulation keeps track of cash stored in an ATM machine, the number of people in the queue for the ATM, and cumulative number of people processed over time. It includes simulation of cash reordering and outages
