About the GoldSim Wiki
The
GoldSim Wiki is an online user-supported resource for GoldSim that provides a mechanism for GoldSim modelers to share information, models, and tips for building GoldSim models.
GoldSim Wiki Structure
Wiki Structure
GoldSim Wiki has only one level of structure, called Namespace. There are three Namespaces in GoldSim Wiki,
the Root Namespace,
Model Library Namespace and
Knowledge Base Namespace, and each contains a collection of articles with no further sub-levels.
Each Namespace has its own set of
Categories and each article in a Namespace is labeled with one or more Categories. For example, this "About the GoldSim Wiki" page exists in the Root Namespace and is categorized in "GoldSim Wiki Help". You may find this page in a list of
all pages under the Root Namespace or you can look at
articles in the "GoldSim Wiki Help" Category.
Similarly, if you go to the Model Library Namespace, you will find
the Main Page for the Model Library consisting of another collection of articles (in the form of example models) that are all labeled with Categories. For example, within the Model Library, the article
Water Balance Model for a Pervious Catchment is labeled with two separate Categories:
Water Resources and
Dashboard.
GoldSim Wiki Articles
The three Namespaces contain different types of articles: Model Library Articles, Knowledge Base Articles, and Topic Articles (and other general resources).
Model Library Articles (in Model Library Namespace)
The
Model Library is where GoldSim modelers can share their models and possibly further develop their models by collaborating with other users. Each page should consist of a brief description of the model and download information, as well as the contact information of the modeler(s).
Model Library articles should also include information about similar models and related articles. There may be direct hyperlinks to other articles under "See Also" section of the page. All model library articles are also labeled with Categories, and clicking a Category name should take you to a list of all model library articles in the Category. Furthermore, descriptions of the model may include hyperlinks to Topic articles, which are likely to include links to other models that are related to the current model.

Knowledge Base Articles (in Knowledge Base Namespace)
Knowledge Base articles are intended to address frequently asked questions, workarounds for known issues, and problems or advice on applying GoldSim. Atlhough much of this content will be provided by GRG staff, users are also encouraged to contribute.
There are only 4 Categories in the Knowledge Base:
- Installation and Registration
- Building and Running Models
- Modeling Tips and Tricks
- How GoldSim Works
All the articles are written in a form of Question-Answer or Issue-Resolution format. Any related Wiki articles, Model Library articles or any other outside resources should be mentioned and linked.
Topic Articles (in the Root Namespace)
Topic articles can cover any articles that users would like to contribute that do not naturally fall into either the Model Library or Knowledge Base. These articles generally provide definitions of terms and discussions of issues and concepts of interest to GoldSim modelers. They generally include links to related Model Library and Knowledge Base articles.
Icon and Image Library (in the Root Namespace)
The
Icon and Image Library contains images and icons saved in EMF format that GoldSim users can download and use to replace the default GoldSim element icons.
How to Navigate the GoldSim Wiki

Use a Search Box and Search Engine
Notice that there is a search box at the bottom of the navigation box on the left. If you type in a keyword and hit enter, the GoldSim Wiki will search contents and attachments of Wiki pages in all three Namespaces.
If you'd like to search within a Namespace or particular Category, search a keyword globally first using the search box. This will take you to a global search result page. At the top of the result page, you have an option to narrow your search.
Use Categories
At the bottom of the Main page for the Root and Model Library Namespace, you'll find "Category Clouds":
Contaminant Transport Engineered Systems Engineering Risk and Reliability General Interest GoldSim Element GoldSim Version GoldSim Wiki Help Icons and Images User Conference Water Resources This is a list of Categories within the Namespace that you are in, and the font size is proportional to the number of pages under the Category. If you click a Category name it'll take you to a list of articles under that Category.
