Model Description

The purpose of this model is to demonstrate the time-shifting capability of a GoldSim time-series element. A time-series element contains nearly 90 years of streamflow data from the USGS Provo River gauge located in Provo, Utah (modified USGS gage data 1923-2010). The model was set up with a simulation duration of 1 year, repeated 100 times for Monte Carlo, probabilistic simulation. As the model iterates through each realization, the Provo River time-series record is re-sampled at a random year always starting at the day and month set in the simulation settings of the model. This type of model makes it easy to show summary statistics like exceedence probability of annual peak flow rate or mean annual flow rate.
