Lake Biogeochemical Food Web Model
This is a nutrients, phytoplankton, and zooplankton model with dissolved oxygen dynamics for a vertically stratified lake system with river inputs. Equations and empirical relations used are taken for the most part from Chapra 1997 Surface Water Quality Modeling.
Description
The major processes simulated are the uptake of dissolved inorganic N by algae, consumption of algae by herbivorous zooplankton, consumption of herbivorous zooplankton by carnivorous zooplankton, and death and respiration of algae and zooplankton. The dissolved oxygen fluxes associated with reaearation, photosynthesis and decomposition are also simulated.
