The GoldSim Technology group has released the
first version of GoldSim Pro. For long-time users
of GoldSim, it is important to know that GoldSim
Pro is essentially the same program as GoldSim
except that the contaminant transport features
are now sold separately as the GoldSim CT and
GoldSim RT modules. The GoldSim CT Module includes
functionality for simulation of non-radioactive
constituents while the GoldSim RT Module includes
all the features of GoldSim CT plus additional
features for simulation of radionuclides. Check
out the products
section of the website for a complete description
of the new product line.
Based on advanced simulation technology developed
over the last ten years for the U.S. Department
of Energy, GoldSim Pro is a general-purpose simulator
suitable for modeling a broad range of business
systems. In contrast to traditional ERP software,
which provides information about the past and
present, GoldSim Pro is designed to help organizations
make better decisions regarding the future.
"GoldSim Pro is a daily productivity tool
for the quantitative business professional",
says Ian Miller, Managing Principal for the GoldSim
Technology Group. "We believe that the power
to better understand the future, combined with
ease-of-use and flexible presentation capabilities,
could make GoldSim Pro standard business software
for anyone involved in making difficult business
decisions."
Because GoldSim Pro is a continuation of previous
GoldSim releases, it is referred to as version
7.4. Prior to the release of GoldSim Pro in April,
Version 7.3 of GoldSim was released in March.
Some of the new features are listed below:
A capacity input was added to the Event
Delay element to facilitate the simulation
of actual queues, such as that at a bank teller.
You can now "lock onto" a DLL
in an External element, a spreadsheet file
in a Spreadsheet element, or any file referenced
by a File element. When you lock onto a file
GoldSim displays an error message and will
not run the model if the file has been changed
since the last time the model was run.
A New Model Wizard was added to automatically
set the major simulation settings when a new
model is created. (You can choose to disable
the wizard through the Options dialog).
Discrete event simulation has been significantly
improved.
Two new elements for delaying continuous
signals have been added: Information Delays
and Material Delays.
Two new elements for entering and manipulating
time series data have been added: Information
Time Series and Material Time Series.
The integration algorithm for Accumulators
(now called Integrators) and Reservoirs has
been changed. As a result, in most cases,
feedback links (now called previous value
links) will no longer be required.
Conditional Containers have been completely
reworked and greatly expanded.
Version Tracking has been added. This allows
you to track the changes made to your model
file over time.
All users now have access to the GoldSim
Dashboard Authoring tools (described in detail
in the GoldSim Dashboard Authoring Module
User's Guide). In order to create Player files
with Dashboards, however, your license must
have Dashboard Publishing option activated.
