Training Sessions in the USA
and Australia
Seattle: July 21-22, 2010
A 2-day GoldSim training course will be
held at our offices in Issaquah, Washington (just outside of Seattle) on July 21 and 22, 2010.
This two-day workshop will provide a
general introduction to the use of GoldSim. It will be of value to new
users, and will also serve as an excellent refresher course (and
introduction to new features) for existing users.
The cost is US$1000 per attendee and
includes continental breakfast and lunch both days. Free 60-day temporary
licenses will also be provided to any attendees who require a license.
Further details and a registration form
can be found here.
Brisbane: August 2-4, 2010
A 3-day GoldSim training course will be
held in Brisbane, Australia from August 2 to 4,
2010.
The first two days of the workshop will
focus on GoldSim basics, with the third (optional) day focusing on the
use of the Contaminant Transport module.
This 3-day workshop will provide a
general introduction to the use of GoldSim. It will be of value to new
users, and will also serve as an excellent refresher course (and
introduction to new features) for existing users.
The cost is AU$1300 per attendee for the

Hydrologic Simulation Program – Fortran (HSPF) Water
Balance Model in GoldSim
The Hydrologic Simulation Program -
Fortran (HSPF) has become one of the most widely used conceptual
rainfall-runoff models since it was developed as the Stanford Watershed
Model in the 1960s. Though the model has had many applications, it
has a couple of critical weaknesses. It is very difficult to use by
non-experts, and it does not support Monte Carlo
simulations to account for uncertainty in its input parameters. To
develop a more user-friendly runoff model supporting Monte
Carlo simulation, the water balance module of HSPF was
rewritten in GoldSim.

Modeler’s Corner
Shifting Time Series Data - Using Historic Data in
Predictive Models
In many predictive models, there is a
need to shift historic data so it can be applied to simulations of the
future. GoldSim 10.1 and later versions include Time Shifting options
that enable you to easily time-shift Time Series data in an appropriate
and consistent manner. This Modeler’s Corner will walk you through this
new feature and discuss the various time-shifting options.

Beyond
GoldSim Version 10.11
Here are some of the things we are
currently working on for the next version:
A Script
element that allows you to create complex procedural code within GoldSim.
In addition to supporting all of the functions and features of
Expressions, the Script element supports nested if, then, else
statements, and various looping options (e.g., For, Do, While).
Scenario
management features to assist in the definition and display of alternative
scenarios in a model.
