GoldSim Technology Group and Sandia National Laboratories Sign Four-Year Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA)

Issaquah, WA (USA) - November 21, 2006– The GoldSim Technology Group (GoldSim), a leading provider of advanced simulation software, today announced that it has signed a four-year Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia).

Sandia is national laboratory (managed by Lockheed Martin for the US Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration) whose mission is to develop science-based technologies that support our national security. Sandia develops technologies to sustain, modernize, and protect the United States nuclear arsenal, prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction, defend against terrorism, protect national infrastructures, ensure stable energy and water supplies, and provide new capabilities to the armed forces.

The objective of the CRADA is to help create the next generation software package for evaluating complex engineering problems. This collaborative effort will provide an advanced computing solution that directly supports Sandia’s mission as the Lead Laboratory for the United States Department of Energy's Yucca Mountain Project (the evaluation of a potential high-level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada). In addition to supporting Sandia's ongoing efforts at Yucca Mountain, the collaboration will also have direct benefits for a wide variety of other applications of interest to both Sandia and GoldSim, including simulation of water resources problems, and engineering reliability analysis for energy, space and defense systems.

This software development effort will combine Sandia’s extensive first-in-class technological and scientific knowledge in 64-bit architectures, high performance computing clusters, advanced simulation, high-fidelity system modeling, parallel and other advanced processing algorithms, and uncertainty quantification with GoldSim's existing graphical probabilistic simulation framework.
