GoldSim is discussed in an article entitled “Do or Die at Yucca Mountain” by David Ewing Duncan. The article describes the U.S. Department of Energy’s proposed repository for the nation’s spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain, Nevada. The article discusses the technology that the Department of Energy has employed to determine whether or not the waste can be safely disposed of at the site. GoldSim provides the computational framework to carry out this analysis, and is the primary tool that is being used to predict the long-term performance of the facility.
