Fourth Annual GoldSim User Conference Draws Users from Around the Globe

Issaquah, WA (USA) June 14 2006 – The fourth annual GoldSim User Conference was held June 6-7th 2006 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The conference provided 19 presentations over a range of GoldSim applications, including radioactive waste management, water resource planning, mine water management, and business modeling. Prior to the conference, a one-day review session covered GoldSim basics.

The conference was a remarkable success, with 55 attendees from nine countries. This year’s invited speakers provided presentations on critical subjects such as a reviewer's perspective on how models should be built and documented, creating sophisticated and effective GoldSim Players, and how to build decision analysis models using GoldSim.

The conference also provided a preview of the upcoming release (code-named "Glacier"), which will include a new Financial Module. The upcoming Glacier release, scheduled for this summer, contains significant new components, including the Allocator and Splitter elements for managing and prioritizing material flows, the History Generator element for generating stochastic time series, and the ability to embed entire models within models. The new Financial Module contains five new elements specifically designed for simulating financial systems.

“I’m continually amazed by our users and their GoldSim applications,“ said Mr. Ian Miller, President of GoldSim Technology Group. “The range of the problems they address using GoldSim, and the creativity of their approaches, are truly impressive.”

Conference agenda and conference presentations are available in GoldSim Wiki.
