Keyboard Support and Shortcut Keys: Did you know that you can zoom into a Time History chart by pressing Ctrl key and selecting an area with a cursor? Or that you can use Ctrl +Shft + S to change the number of significant figures displayed in a table result display? GoldSim supports numerous keyboard and shortcut keys. You can find a list of shortcut keys in GoldSim Wiki.

ModelLibrary

The GoldSim Model Library allows GoldSim users to build on the experience and knowledge of others by sharing models. The Model Library is available from within GoldSim Wiki.

New models that have recently been added include:

Species Spreadsheet for CT Models: This spreadsheet can be used as a template to prepare input data for a module that utilizes the GoldSim Contaminant Transport Module.

Operate Two Out Of Three Machines at All Times: This reliability model provides the logic to keep two out of three machines operating at any given time, while evening out the operating time among the three machines.

Monthly Averages:  This models shows how to calculating monthly averages in date time models.

If you have a model that you think would be worth sharing, please post it to the Model Library on the GoldSim Wiki.

GoldSim Launches Redesigned Website

http://www.goldsim.com

Come visit our new website! It has been completely redesigned with a powerful navigation system and improved search function. More importantly, as part of the new website, we have created a new GoldSim Forum and GoldSim Wiki where users can exchange ideas and information. Our goal is to build a more interactive user community to help you get the most out of GoldSim.

*     Reorganized Contents and New Navigation Scheme

The GoldSim website is a content rich website that provides resources for both new users and GoldSim experts. With the new navigation tree and powerful internal search engine, you can explore our website easier and faster without getting lost.

*     GoldSim Wiki and Forum

The GoldSim Wiki is an online user-supported resource database for GoldSim. The purpose of the GoldSim Wiki is to provide modeling resources for GoldSim users. Although GoldSim Technology Group will actively support, contribute to, and moderate the Wiki, it is intended to provide a mechanism for users to share their knowledge and ideas with each other. Therefore, we strongly encourage everyone to participate. For the most part, all portions of the Wiki can be edited by users.

The GoldSim Wiki includes a Model Library, Knowledge Base, and an Icon and Image Library. It also contains a variety of articles (that we hope will grow) discussing various topics of interest to the GoldSim community.

To complement the Wiki, we have also redesigned the GoldSim Forum. This is the place where you can ask other users questions about GoldSim and specific modeling applications. The new Forum is internally hosted, allowing it to be easily searched and indexed by search engines.

Though all visitors can view Wiki and Forum pages, you need a user ID in order to edit Wiki pages or post in the forum. You can sign up for your account from the registration page.

*     GoldSim Resource Center (GRC) is No Longer Password-Protected

On the old website, a number of important user resources were located in the GoldSim Resource Center (GRC), which was restricted to users with current GoldSim Subscriptions, and was password-protected. In the new website, these resources are no longer password-protected. The primary motivation for this change was to make it easier for users to access these resources.

Some contents formerly located in the GRC have been moved to the Resources and Downloads section of the new website. Other key resources, such as the Model Library and Knowledge Base, can now be found in the GoldSim Wiki.

We’d love to hear what you think about our new website. You can post comments and vote for a poll in the Forum, or you can simply email us.

GoldSim 10.5 Coming Soon!

Our next major release, GoldSim 10.5, is almost at the door. We are currently putting the finishing touches on this new version, which will be released before the end of the year. Some of the more notable features include:

*    A Script element has been added that allows you to create complex procedural code within GoldSim. In addition to adding statements with all of the functions and features of Expressions, the Script element supports nested if, then, else logic, and various looping options (e.g., For, Do, While).

*    Date/Time simulations now have an extended range. Current versions of GoldSim restrict date/time simulations to fall between 1900 and 2100. GoldSim 10.5 extends the range from 1700 to 9999.

*    GoldSim input fields now provide an Auto Complete feature that suggests output names as you type, making it easier and faster to create links.

*    A number of improvements have been made to the Time Series element to make it easier to enter and utilize historic data.

*    The Units Manager has been redesigned to make it easier to create custom units.

*    New features have been added to make it easier to view, understand and control the causality sequence in your models.

*    Within the Contaminant Transport Module, a new pathway element, the Aquifer element, has been added that combines the power and flexibility of Cells with the ease of use of Pipes.
