Activating and Deactivating Pumps Based on Desired Flow Rates


This model demonstrates how a series of parallel pumps can be modeled in GoldSim using the Reliability Module. Each pump has a failure that occurs according to an exponential distribution once every thirty days. This failure is repaired with a mean delay of five days. Pumps are all initially turned off.

The desired flow rate through the system varies over the duration of the simulation (a simple sinusodial function). The model adjusts to changes in the desired flow rate and to failures/repairs by turning pumps on and off.
