This model uses an empirical formula to produce a hydrograph outflow that might occur from a breach in a dam. The method is the same as that used by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers HEC-RAS program. The resulting breach flow hydrograph is linked to a reservoir element, which tracks the amount of water in the reservoir behind the dam. As the volume decreases, the water level also decreases, which affects the discharge rate.

Run the model and ensure that results match the output from HEC-RAS in the "Validation" container. Please read the documentation found in the "Documentation" container before using this model. This model is currenly built to only handle the overtopping failure mode. If you want to use the piping failure option, you will need to modify this model.
